Aileron hinges on Senior Tel Plus

When installing the hinges (supplied round pin style) for the Ailerons....once you leave enough room to expose the hinge center, you have a pretty big gap. I would estimate the gap to be about 3/16 of an inch! It is a huge surface...is this too big. The only way to decrease this would be to counter sink the hinge and I was afraid that this was a recipe for glue to foul the hinge point. Is this normal? :?:

Hey Mike I had the same problem. I don't know how HL solved the problem, but I found that if you take a piece of clear packing tape and put on the underside of the ailerons you can close up the large air space. I haven't had any problems at all.

I just used a rc car body reamer to open up the outter edges of the holes. Since the reamer is tapered, it doesnt open up the entire hole like a drill bit would. Now, the hinge points sit almost flush with the holes, and the gap is non existent ;)

How are you keeping the glue from getting in the pivot points?

Try using vaseline on the hinge area before glueing the rest into its slot/hole..Use only on the surface you don't want glued.

    Hope that helps,

I wish I would have read this prior to installing the hinges!
