    Training

This will be a place for anyone looking for training or is able to train to post information. I'll start with some basics that you'll need to know.

    Preflight Check:
Make sure the plane is airworthy, by checking all hinges, screws, bolts, wing attachments, and anything else that is critical to flight.
Check for the proper control movements and that the surfaces are centered and that the center of gravity is correct.
Perform a range check per your radios instructions.

    Flying:
Find a nice size field or dedicated flying site using the club locator here http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx
Turn on the transmitter first, then plug in the battery pack.
Always launch and land into the wind.
Make small corrections and be careful to not yank on the sticks.
Focus on keeping the wings and fuselage level.
Remember that when flying towards you, the controls for left and right are reversed. So when you push right, the plane goes left.
For landing, pull the power back until the plane is slowly descending. Keep the wings level and apply a little up elevator to flare just before touch down.
Unplug the battery first, then turn off the transmitter.
Keep practicing, you'll get the hand of it and soon won't even be thinking about what to do.

    Re: Training

I see new pilots getting this one wrong often:

Start with a TRAINER. Even better, an easy trainer. Get the hang of the controls before you even think of a fast or advanced plane. Flying without crashing takes a little practice.

Don't let your ego get ahead of your ability.
