Unhappy F15 brief second motor cut off

    Hi Jay

Update: Maiden the F15 w/ EDF unit u sent. All went we'll. The only thing I did encounter was that the motor cut off twice in flight just for a split second. Watch video of 2nd flight (between 2:36 - 2:43 time on video, actually right at 2:40 time) close to the end of video.

I'm not too concerned at this point.....or should I be  I've had so far five flights but brainstorming what it could be ?

    Thanks

    Art

Do you think there may be some radio drop outs?
Try rerouting or moving your antenna on the reciever.
Radio drop out will give you low throttle.

The other possibility is a ESC problem.
Sorry to ask is the a RTF or an ARF where you supplied the radio?

Needs to be something in common like the radio or a connection issue.
Check the Deans connectors closely too.

Re: F15 brief second motor cut off

    hi jay

i'm using my own spectrum Tx(dx6i) and Rx (ar6110) which worked with no issues on my other planes.

its was a ARF kit, hobby lobby motor/esc. the deans on battery and esc look ok.

this one is baffling. i'm going to try different battery this weekend and see what happens. at this point, i'm narrowing it down to ESC but not sure ? i don't have another 45a ESC that i can try.

i'll let you know next week of my results.

I had a problem like that once with a different plane. After swapping everything else out, the problem turned out to be the esc.

    hey jay

    my putt...putt (throttle drop) story:

got the ESC you sent me. went for a flight. F15 was flying good then again same problem showed up but this time bit worst than before - went something like this: (bare with me,no video this time) zooooom, putt..putt (2-3 seconds), zooooom, :D after which symptom disappeared.

brought her down tried different brand battery (quessing at this point)...results: sweet, no putt...putt. so i thought problem solved, either bad battery or connector issue...wrong - flew again and ...putt...putt showed up again.

    so to re-cap:
    * 1st stock controller split second putt as mentioned past thread.
    * 2nd stock controller two putt...putts (2-3 seconds throttle drop).
    * different brand battery, 2nd flight no putt...putt but 3rd flight, putt...putt came back.

i and other more experienced rc pilots checked my F15 and my building work and it all looks clean. they to are eager find out whats up :? one guy told me its because i have no pilot in cockpit

i have ordered a different brand ESC from a local hobby vendor, 60A though. once I get it, back to testing, lets see what happens. at this point, i don't think my plane is in any real danger, hey it didn't shut off completely

    more reports to come

    thanks !

Re: F15 brief second motor cut off

    Art,

The next thing I would be looking at closely is the setup of the receiver.
Sure sounds like it is dropping the signal.
Do you have full control during the Putt Putt stage?
I have not seen this in other F-35's especially with us
    changing the ESC out.
Only thing left is the motor dropping out, but didn't you get a spare motor?

Or you have the Model "T" version with the Putt Putt option......

    hey jay

yup, i have full control when "putt...putt" occurs. i have a spare motor but have not
used it cuz didn't think motor was issue.

last night i balanced the fan cuz it was outta balance a bit.

once i get the other ESC i ordered, i'll try it out, if problem
re-occurs i will try spare motor.

    i'll let u know outcome

    thanks
